Spring Mini Sessions. Lost yourself in flowers! {San Jose Family Photographer}

SPRING MINI SESSIONS ARE HERE!

Do you feel Spring in the air? Or it’s just me?

I kid you not, I get outside and I can smell Spring. Like literally I can smell it. Fresh, juicy green grass. The refreshing air after the rain. The birds chirping.

This weather we’re having right now reminds me of Summer rain in Poland. Well, a little warmer Summer rain.

Anywho, the rain and than the warmth means only one thing in here… It’s time to scout mustard flowers locations…

And that’s exactly what I did this week, and I’m excited to announce MUSTARD FLOWERS MINIS… (follow the link to read the details and see some breathtaking mustard flowers images from past years)

Spots available on February 22nd, 23rd and 24th

My Most Important Action during the next 15 days {Day 2 of the 15 Day Blog Challenge}

For Day 2 of our 15 Day Blog Challenge we are to describe ONE most important action we will focus on during the next 15 days. Well, mine is quite clear. It is to deliver the awesomeness of breastfeeding portraits to all the mammas who participated in last Sunday mini-sessions. The event was organized by La Leche League USA and I partnered with LLL South Bay and donated 2 hours of mini-sessions to this project. I had 8 mammas in front of my camera that day and it was wonderful.

There will be also a short and sweet movie from the mini-sessions and I can’t wait to put it together. So, yes, not like yesterday, today is short, because I have to get back to editing.

Why breastfeeding mothers should be showcased not covered?

In the past 3 weeks I have taken a series of breastfeeding portraits for mothers from all over the Bay Area (click here to see the entire gallery), and I have fallen in love in this project. Mostly because of all the comments I have received from many of the moms after they saw their pictures.

From

“it was my dream to have breastfeeding photos taken with my son”

to

“I showed the picture to my mom and she said she couldn’t stop looking at it”

I could not believed how thrilled and happy were all the moms to be able to participate in such a session. I think, in my whole career I haven’t met a mom who was so excited for a regular family session as those mom were for their breastfeeding sessions.

In my opinion breastfeeding mothers should be showcased and not asked to cover because it’s a very healthy approach to our nature, to our bodies, and because it’s beautiful.

Now it’s your turn. Fill the blanks:

“In my opinion breastfeeding mothers should be showcased not asked to cover because ______________.”

This mamma is not only a breastfeeding hero but also a coordinator of a first (and hopeful not last), annual potluck picnic focused on supporting breastfeeding in public:

Mark this day in your calendars, people. They also will be offering short breastfeeding mini-sessions in exchange for a small donation to LLL.

Nursing uncovered {Lifestyle Family Photographer, San Jose, CA}

3 years ago it was Brynja Sigurdardottir and her breastfeeding army moms. Now it is Ivette Ivens and her photos of nursing uncovered mothers. I can only say, I admire both of them for their vision. All the hatred they received for their projects had been a main reasons why I didn’t push any of my clients to participate in my own personal project of photographing breastfeeding mothers. I was not prepared for words of criticism that Brynja and Ivette has received. I think it’s time to stop being afraid and simply do it!

Back in 2012 I wrote a post for an online community, World Moms Blog: “Poland via USA: Breastfeeding in public?” expressing my thoughts about nursing in public being such a controversial, yet natural, state of human existence. Being honest with you I feel more comfortable taking pictures then writing, therefore instead of writing about this issue I will simply join the group of photographers who do support the cause of breastfeeding in public (covered or not).

Sneak peek from 3 sessions I had today.

And to all moms out there. Please enjoy those moments while you can! Capture them! Definitely!!!
